our story

Originally founded as Biomechanics, Inc. in 1984, Motion Reality was incorporated in 2001 and acquired all of the rights to the applications utilizing the technology developed by Biomechanics. Located near Atlanta, Georgia, Motion Reality is a pioneer in real time 3D motion capture and immersive virtual reality simulation technologies. After more than thirty years of research and development in the areas of mechanical engineering, biomechanics, image processing, computer science, and animation, Motion Reality is recognized as a leader in motion capture, spatial engineering analysis, 3D computer graphics and real time virtual reality simulation.

Dr. Thomas McLaughlin (CEO) received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomechanics at the University of Illinois in 1978, and was a visiting scholar at UCLA and a former professor at Auburn University. His research interests include  spatial musculoskeletal modeling, dynamics of human motion, and the integration of mechanics and analytical techniques with real-time 3D computer animation and immersive virtual reality.

John Thomas (CFO) is Co-founder of Motion Reality and has been the CFO since its inception. He has been the CFO of numerous startup companies, seven of which became public while he served as the CFO.

Olen Bruce (COO) has an extensive background working in the simulation and training industry (military and entertainment), previously working at Janus Research Group, Alion Science and Technology, and BMH Associates, Inc. His experience and leadership is focused on delivering unique, technology driven solutions for our domestic and international clients.

Dr. Nels Madsen (CTO) has worked with Dr. McLaughlin since both of them began teaching at Auburn University in 1978. He has a B.A. in Physics, M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and is a Full Professor in Mechanical Engineering and former Associate Dean at Auburn. His specialties include 3D mechanism analysis, high performance computer graphics animation and computer-aided engineering.
